There are some tremendously fun options for fantasy throughout the NFL playoffs and one of my favorites is the FFPC Playoff Challenge. Use this link for $25 off at FFPC for new users who enter either Playoff Challenge contest! In this format, users select 12 players (1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 4 FLEX, 1 DST, 1 K) from the 14 teams participating in the playoffs – but the catch is that you can only select one player from any team! The format uses TE premium (1.5 PPR for TEs) and double scoring in the Super Bowl.
This makes for a really fun strategic puzzle. For example, we all want to play Pat Mahomes right?? But if you roster Mahomes, that means you get no Travis Kelce – womp womp! Also, we all want to capture that double-point scoring in the Super Bowl and we know the Packers and Chiefs will have first round byes, so they are locks at QB right? Well, teams with byes will play one fewer game than everyone else, lowering their maximum ceiling.
There are so many points and counter-points to consider, so I created this handy-dandy chart to help:
In this chart, I’ve used red text to indicate any player that I think has a VERY limited path to being in an optimal lineup. For example, the presence of Pat Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce renders Clyde Edwards-Helaire useless in this format (unless you’re playing him to go contrarian).
I tried to hit on as many points as I could in this video as we walk through how to build one of these lineups. Let’s take a look, shall we?
